Why we exist

Most older people want to stay in their own homes. BC's public home support is real, and it is stretched. Private home care fills the gap.

Families choosing a provider usually have no easy way to check whether the promises are true, and little time to find out. So we built the business around making ours checkable: published standards, a verified record of every visit, and an access log the client can read.

The principles we work by

  • Show, do not assert

Anyone can claim to be careful. We record what happened at each visit and show it to the people entitled to see it.

  • Build the rule into the system

A policy that depends on somebody remembering it under pressure is not much of a policy. The rules that matter most are built into our software.

  • Continuity above efficiency

A rotating cast of caregivers is easier to schedule and worse care, especially in dementia. We take the harder schedule.

  • Say the unwelcome thing early

That the public system may serve you better. That an adult day programme is a better fit. That home may have stopped being the right place. Saying it late is how trust is lost.

  • The caregiver is the service

Everything a family experiences arrives through one person at the door. We choose, match and look after caregivers accordingly.

  • Collect less, protect what is left

We collect only what we need. This website runs no analytics until you agree to it, and the care record is kept separately, in Canada.

A family business, run by the family

Brilliant Homecare is owned and run by one family, and the standards on this site are ours to keep.

Things we have decided not to do

  • No tracking without your yes. Analytics runs only if you agree to it, and nobody is targeted with ads for reading a page about dementia.
  • No medical questions in a web form. A public website is not the place for health information. We cover that by phone.
  • No fabricated reviews. Testimonials appear only with the written consent of the person quoted.
  • No one comes to your door unvetted. Every caregiver passes the same registry, background and reference checks, with no exceptions for someone brought on in a hurry.
  • No selling against the public system. When a health authority assessment would serve you better, that is what we recommend, before you have paid us anything.
  • No care records leaving Canada. The care record is stored in Canada, separate from this website.
