Home care in Coquitlam
Our office is here. Coquitlam runs from dense towers around Lafarge Lake to new subdivisions climbing Burke Mountain, with historic Maillardville in between, and care that works for one rarely works for all three without a plan built around the address.
Fraser Health home and community care
Coquitlam’s publicly funded home support is arranged by Fraser Health, the same authority as the rest of the Tri-Cities, Burnaby and Surrey. It starts with an assessment, it is income-tested, and where it meets the need it is cheaper than we are, worth doing before you call us. Fraser Health also administers CSIL for eligible residents who want to self-manage their own funding; our costs and funding guide explains how that works.
Getting around the Tri-Cities
SkyTrain makes Town Centre easy to reach. Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau are another matter: a car is the only practical way in, and we schedule with that in mind.
Somewhere nearby but not quite Coquitlam
We also serve Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and New Westminster. Anywhere else nearby, ask us about your address.
Local knowledge
No hospital inside Coquitlam itself
Coquitlam is served by Eagle Ridge Hospital, just over the line in Port Moody, and by Royal Columbian in New Westminster. Either way, tell us the ward and the date and we will plan the trip home.
Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau are a different job than Town Centre
Both were built out on the hillside in the last two decades, so a lot of homes there have a long driveway, an entry level up a flight of exterior stairs, or both. That's the opposite problem from a Town Centre highrise near Lafarge Lake, where the challenge is elevators, fob access and a concierge desk that needs to know a caregiver is coming.
Maillardville's Francophone roots
Founded in 1909 by French-Canadian mill workers, Maillardville still has residents for whom French is the language they return to as dementia progresses. We take a French-language request seriously rather than treating it as a nice-to-have.
