Home care in North Vancouver
The North Shore is beautiful and steep, and both facts matter. Hillside driveways, exterior stairs, and a bridge between you and most of the region's specialists shape every care plan we write here.
Lions Gate Hospital and coming home
Lions Gate Hospital in Central Lonsdale serves the whole North Shore, and most local discharges come from there.
Vancouver Coastal Health’s North Shore home and community care team arranges publicly funded home support after an assessment. Start there. Where the assessed hours or the schedule do not cover the situation, that is where we fit.
Deep Cove, Seymour and the edges
The eastern edge of the District (Deep Cove, Northlands, Blueridge) is a long drive from Central Lonsdale. We build that drive into the schedule, and we will tell you honestly which visit times we can reliably cover.
West Vancouver
We work in West Vancouver too, from Ambleside and Dundarave to the British Properties and Horseshoe Bay. It has its own page.
Local knowledge
The terrain is the care plan
A house on a Lynn Valley slope with fourteen exterior steps and a driveway that ices over is a different proposition from a Lower Lonsdale apartment. We assess the approach to the home, not only the inside of it, because the fall that ends someone's independence is at least as likely to happen on the path as in the bathroom.
Winter is not a hypothetical up here
Snow and ice arrive on the North Shore earlier, harder and more often than they do at sea level in Vancouver. We plan for it: earlier starts, and an honest conversation in advance about which visits are essential if the roads go.
Both bridges are a single point of failure
An incident on the Lions Gate or the Ironworkers can add an hour each way. Wherever we can, we match North Shore clients with caregivers who live on the North Shore.
